Heriberto Fonseca Bibescu, a prominent violinist and pedagogue of his generation, was awarded prizes in national competitions. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of the Arts in Havana and earned a Master's degree in Chamber Music at the Liceo Conservatory of Music.
He studied with Manuel Cedeño, Alexander Kanievski, Evelio Tieles, and Valeri Gasarian, and in chamber music with the renowned teachers Radosvet Bojadjiev and Gregori Fedorenko. He furthered his education through courses in interpretation, pedagogy, and musical specialization with Vartan Manoogian, Heidi Castleman, Guya Martinini, and Anita Mitterer.
Since 1981, he has developed an important pedagogical career, teaching at the "Guillermo Tomás" and "Amadeo Roldán" conservatories of music in Havana while simultaneously working as a soloist and chamber musician at the "Centro Nacional de la Música de Concierto" in the same city.
As a soloist, he has performed with the most important orchestras in his country, under the direction of conductors such as Guido López Gavilán, Tomás Fortín, Miguel del Castillo, Pérez Mesas, and David de la Mora. He was a guest artist in the concert series celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba under the direction of maestro Álvaro Manzano (2010).
In Barcelona, he has collaborated as the first violinist in the "Barcelona Modern Project" ensemble, dedicated to promoting and recording the music of contemporary composers such as Robert Gerhard, Joaquim Homs, Jesús Rodríguez Picó, Joan Ginjoan, among others. He has also collaborated as a soloist with the "Camerata di Phonassi," the Vila Seca Chamber Orchestra, and the "Camerata XXI," the Chamber Orchestra of the Liceo Conservatory.
He has shared the stage with pianists Dagmar Muñiz, Ivet Frontela, and Olga Kobekina, performing repertoires ranging from Baroque music to contemporary music, highlighting the programs of the complete sonatas of Hindemith and Beethoven.
Throughout his pedagogical career, he has participated in exchange projects between conservatories and musical entities in different countries such as Portugal, Italy, Germany, Czechia, Hungary, Austria, and China, and has been invited to give master classes at various conservatories in Catalonia and serve as a jury member in competitions.
He has students who have won prizes in national and international competitions and have been awarded scholarships to study at prestigious institutions such as the Reina Sofía School of Music, Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, Purcell School of Music in London, "Liceu Junior," and "Jóvenes Promesas" of the Ferrer Salat Music Foundation.
Currently, he is focused on his pedagogical activities, serving as the head of the string department at the Liceo Conservatory and teaching violin and orchestra at the Instituto Escola Artístico "Oriol Martorell" in Barcelona and the Professional Conservatory of Music in Badalona.
